The organizing committee proudly invites you to the Sidra International scientific conference Q-PEM which takes place on January 7-8 2017 at the Hamd Bin Khalifa University. This authoritative scientific meeting promises to be a memorable one, both in the quality of scientific discourse and its projected impact on equipping frontline healthcare providers in improving the quality of care delivered to children with urgent and emergency health issues.

Building on the successes of previous Hamad Medical Corporation-run Pediatric Emergency Conferences in Qatar and now including accomplished academic Pediatric Emergency Medicine faculty from Sidra Medical and Research Center, we have designed a conference that will cover fundamentals of Pediatric Emergency Medicine as well as current updates relevant to all clinicians providing emergency or urgent care to children. The scientific program also presents the current best evidence for management of common and critical pediatric emergencies. With topics that range from infectious diseases, pain management, surgical emergencies, respiratory emergencies, and more, there is high-quality conference with something for everyone. Additionally, a pre-conference Advanced Pediatric Life Support (APLS) course is being offered.

We have assembled a faculty of highly accomplished and well-published academic and administrative experts who are regular presenters at regional and international conferences. To provide additional perspective and expertise, our faculty also includes Emergency Medicine, Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Radiology speakers who are established in their respective fields. This authoritative conference will be an invaluable resource to all healthcare professionals involved directly or indirectly in the care of women in the reproductive age group. The scientific program consists of a blend of didactic lectures, small group didactic workshops and small group hands-on workshops.

APLS (Advanced Pediatric Life Support) Pre-conference on January 6, 2017

Advanced Pediatric Life Support (APLS) is the premiere course applicable to the clinical management of urgent and emergency clinical problems in pediatrics. It is useful for physicians practicing pediatric emergency medicine, emergency medicine, general pediatrics, and family medicine.

We are hosting a unique 1-day course at Sidra Medical and Research Center. It is sponsored and approved by the American College of Emergency Physicians and American Academy of Pediatrics. The one-day format specifically requires home study of the textbook and completing an online portion prior to the actual course. This course will be held at Sidra Medical and Research Center taught by our Sidra APLS instructors. Registration is very limited, and priority is for HMC employees working in areas that manage pediatric emergencies.

Registration for the APLS course is separate from the main conference. In order to attend APLS you must specifically register for this course, it is included in the main conference registration process. Registration Fee for APLS is USD 114 = QAR 415.

This activity is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Category 1) as defined by the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners - Accreditation Department and is approved for a maximum of 7.75 hours.
